Want to start using that awesome Notion template you found? This guide will walk you through the process step-by-step, making it easy to get started and customize it for your needs.

Import Notion Template in 3 Easy Steps

Step 1: Duplicate the Template

The first and most crucial step is to duplicate the template into your own Notion workspace.

  • Open the link to the template. It will usually be a public Notion page.

  • In the top right corner of the page, you'll see a "Duplicate" button. Click on it.

  • A pop-up window will ask you to select the workspace where you want to add the template. Choose your workspace from the dropdown list.

  • Notion will automatically create a copy of the template in your selected workspace. You will be redirected to your new copy of the template.

Step 2: Organize and Rename

Now that the template is in your workspace, it's time to make it feel like home.

  • By default, the duplicated template will be named "Copy of [Original Template Name]." Click on the title at the top of the page to rename it to something more descriptive and personal, like "My Personal Dashboard" or "2025 Goal Tracker."

  • You can also move the page to a specific location within your Notion setup. Drag and drop the page from your sidebar to a database or a parent page where you want it to reside.

Step 3: Customize the Content

This is where the fun begins! Tailor the template to fit your unique workflow and preferences.

  • Delete Unwanted Content: Many templates include example data or instructions. Go through the pages and delete any blocks, rows, or entire databases that you don't need.

  • Add Your Own Information: Replace the placeholder text with your own data, tasks, and goals.

  • Modify Layout and Properties: Change the layout by dragging blocks around. You can also click on the properties of a database (e.g., tags, dates) and rename, reorder, or change their type to better suit your needs.
